In 1985, Kent joined IBM at their 2” fabrication plant in Manassas, Virginia. His primary responsibility during that time was as an equipment technician in the lithography and hot process areas. Several years later, he moved on to IBM East Fishkill and worked within the CCP division in magnetic component quality assurance. Kent joined IBM’s research and development arm, in 1994, as a quality control and yield technician for the Advanced Semiconductor Technology Center.
