Deniz received her BS, MS, and PhD degrees from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey. After completing her PhD, she started working as a post-doctoral research associate at Rensselaer Nanotechnology Center, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in 2010. She has over 50 publications in refereed journals and numerous conference proceedings, and conference presentations. She is also the co-author of a laboratory textbook, “Colloid and Surface Chemistry – Exploration of the Nano World”.
In this role as Coordinating Research Director for Microelectronics, Deniz coordinates the strategic development activities of RPI’s microelectronics research enterprise across centers, portfolios, and functions, including research, financial planning, publicity, and facility operations.
She works closely with research centers and OVPR to expand funded partnerships with federal, state, and industrial entities. She also oversees marketing and outreach strategies to promote RPI’s leadership in microelectronics and manages content for publications and websites. Her responsibilities include organizing industry and student-focused activities, representing RPI at Albany Nanotech Complex, and assisting workforce development initiatives.
Previously, Deniz was the Director of Operations and Business Development at CMDIS, where she contributed to strategic planning, outreach, and research management. She also managed the Nanoscale Characterization Core (NCC) laboratory, gaining expertise in advanced material characterization and facility operations.
