Engineering Ambassadors STEM Day

Bethlehem Middle School students visited CMDIS facilities as a part of the Engineering Ambassadors STEM Day on November 6th

Engineering Ambassadors are a group of RPI engineers devoted to inspiring younger students with what they are doing in their chosen major, the newest technological breakthroughs in their field, and the obstacles yet to be overcome. The STEM day encourages middle school students and their teachers to participate in ongoing research activities across the campus. Within CMDIS facilities, middle school students and teachers were introduced to a powerful imaging and elemental analysis instrument, FEI Versa 3D Scanning Electron microscopy.

Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) outreach is vital to the nation’s development of future scientists, engineers and innovators. As such, CMDIS supports multiple campus wide and intra-departmental community outreach activities. These include hands-on activities and demonstrations as well as tours of the CMDIS facilities promoting and expanding STEM experiences for the next generation.
