How to Get Started

Scoping Meeting
1. Schedule a Scoping Meeting
Start by sending an email to Kent Way (Interim Director of Micro and Nanofabrication CleanRoom) or Dr. Katharine Dovidenko (Director of Nanoscale Characterization Core) summarizing the tools or facilities you’d like to use. We’ll arrange a 30-minute online with our technical staff and directors to discuss your needs.

Scoping and Pricing
2. Define Scope and Pricing
After the scoping meeting, we’ll provide a clear definition of the work, along with relevant information about services, capabilities, and pricing.

User Agreements
3. Complete the Appropriate Agreement
Depending on your project, complete one of the following forms:
- External Customer Agreement – for users accessing the facilities directly.
- Testing Services Agreement – for users sending in samples for analysis.
Please inquire to receive the documentation and allow up to 5 business days for review.

Setting Up Accounts
4. Set Up Your External User Account
Once your agreement is approved, we’ll create your user account—typically within 24 hours.

Mailing Samples
5. Sending Samples (if applicable)
If you're sending samples for testing or analysis, we’ll provide detailed instructions after the scoping meeting, including:
- Where and how to ship your samples
- Packaging and labeling requirements
- Any specific handling or documentation needed

Trainings and Access
6. Schedule Safety and Tool Trainings (for in-person users)
- We’ll coordinate your required safety training (available online or in person).
- Tool-specific trainings must be scheduled separately, depending on the equipment you’ll be using.
- We’ll also provide details about directions, parking, and card access before your visit.
