CMDIS Annual Research Symposium 2024

We invite you to a day that celebrates research in microelectronics, interface engineering, advanced materials, metrology, energy and sustainability, polymers, biomaterials, composite materials, modeling and simulation, advanced manufacturing research, robotics, and control.

7th Center for Materials, Devices and Integrated Systems Annual Research Symposium will be on 22.November.2024 (Friday) at the Heffner Alumni House.

Research Presentations: Discover the latest scientific breakthroughs from our members and participate in talk and poster sessions.

Discussions: Share ideas and spark new collaborations; learn about new techniques from your fellows.

Networking: Meet fellow researchers, mentors, and faculty, and meet someone outside your inner circle.

Abstract Submissions: Share your research and get the recognition it deserves.

Art-in-Science: Enjoy a competition that blends art with science.

Awards: Chance to win conference travel awards in several categories.

Happy Hour: Unwind and socialize at our reception (bring your ID!).

Art-in-Science Contest
Visualization of data is a powerful way to convey complex information. In the contest, submissions of printable artwork that express scientific principles, concepts, ideas, processes and/or structures will be evaluated. The contest is not limited to micrographs or images; any printable artistic representation of scientific data is relevant. All images should have a connection to your scientific research.

Judging will be based on both scientific significance and artistic impact of the work, symposium participants will decide on the winner. The images will be presented in the Art-in-Science exhibition during the symposium. You may view the previous year's abstract booklet (link)

The images submitted to this contest can be used by Center for Materials, Devices and Integrated Systems for marketing and advertising purposes for internal events, documents, websites, flyers, poster, brochures, and for other printed and visual media.

Art-in-Science image submission information:

1. All images must be electronically submitted as .tiff, .tif, .eps or .png file by October 30, 2024 (Wednesday). Please use this link to submit your work.
2. All images submitted must include a title (max.100 char).
3. A short description (50 words or less) of the technique used, the object that was imaged, and any special conditions should also be provided
3. You will be communicated about the display of your work.

Awards
$500 Travel awards will be presented to Best in Oral Presentation, Best in Poster Presentation and Best in Art-in-Science categories.

The best Art-in-Science image will be featured on the cover of next year's symposium abstract booklet.

The awards must be used before next year's symposium and the recipient must be an active RPI student and be traveling to present RPI research and participate in symposiums, workshops, exhibitions, or conferences.
